Ki-Hara Resistance Stretching SessionsKI-HARA RESISTANCE STRETCHING is an effective and safe method of stretching. Do you experience chronic muscle or joint pain? Lack of flexibility even though you have a regular stretching regiment? If so, resistance stretching may be the answer! Ki-Hara method of stretching releases tension in overused muscles, activates underused muscles, and rebalances the body so that it can function at it's best.
During a session, the client is asked to contract a specific muscle while the trainer pushes them into a stretch, with constant communication between the stretcher and "stretchee". This "eccentric" contraction through the stretch creates elasticity, increases blood flow, and eliminates knots and toxins that reside in muscle fibers. Resistance stretching can even repair scar tissue and increase bone strength over time- after all, muscle connects to bone, so they have a reciprocal relationship! Resistance Stretching is ideal for those who do not have a lot of time- it is a full body workout, stretch therapy, connective tissue release all in one session! From the couch potato, to those with chronic pain, to the elite athlete, resistance stretching is beneficial to just about anyone. BENEFITS:

Alison discovered resistance stretching when a chronically inflamed knee, hip, SI joint and shoulder disfunction led her in search of alternative forms of healing. She discovered the healing effects of resistance stretching in 2012, studying with Carrie Collins in Chicago, and becoming certified to resistance stretch in 2014. She has continued training with Ki-Hara founders Anne Tierney and Steve Sierra in Miami, and Dynamic Contraction Technique with Nick Barlotta in San Diego. "Alison kneads the tightest muscles in my legs then takes me through Ki-hara stretches that feel wonderful--increasing my range of flexibility. Our goal is to strengthen my upper and lower legs to compensate for my lack of knee cartridge—now noticing a measurable improvement in the new pain free way I can zip up stairways!" - Karen Buckey "After months of physical therapy, I still had limited range of motion and pain in my right shoulder from a rotator cuff injury. With resistance stretching, Alison restored full range of motion and strength, and I now sleep at night without shoulder pain waking me up. I never would have been able to achieve the level of pain relief I have now in my hips, knees, and neck without the resistance stretching and mashing. Both have truly changed my life." - Jan Mangelsdorf |
